Job Title: On-Site Manager
Seeking: A hard-working, self-motivated individual with a positive can-do attitude who finds value in working in a multi-faceted, dynamic environment.
Hours: This position requires regular availability Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Part-time, approximately 27 hours weekly. Additional hours seasonally as well as opportunities for special-project hours.
Wage: $25.00 per hour. Optional 401k program.
Reports To: Events Manager, Bar Manager, Ownership, Accounting
Job Summary: Ensures The Rust Belt Market is operating at a high-level of excellence by working closely with ownership, management, staff, vendors/shopkeeps, and patrons to facilitate a clean, safe, and all-around well-functioning environment for both retail and hospitality.
Core Responsibilities: The following responsibilities are intended to provide a broad overview of position requirements—all of which include cleaning duties and security protocols.
Preparing and opening the market for public retail hours.
Maintaining a clean marketplace: this includes main corridors, entryways, restrooms, event space, green room, as well as outdoor areas (sidewalks, patio, pavilion, entrances).
Maintaining a safe marketplace: this includes proper cleaning and maintenance of facilities, regular trash removal, crowd management, as well as an astute awareness and capacity to handle any situation that may pose a threat to any team-member, vendor/shopkeep, and/or patron of the market.
Remaining onsite during all public market hours.
Showing pop-up vendors to the pop-up shop location and staying after market closes (Sundays only) until they’ve completed breakdown and load-out.
Preparing the market for close, closing, and securing the market.
Facilitating a smooth market-to-private-event transition.
Working closely with the Events Manager and Bar Manager to ensure everything is operating at peak performance.
Taking direction from and assisting the Events Manager to prepare the venue for private events (this includes many physical requirements).
Taking direction from and assisting the Bar Manager in any way that may improve bar service.
Outdoor seasonal maintenance such as blowing leaves, trash clean-up, assisting in seasonal decor set-up/tear-down, salting sidewalks, shoveling snow, planting, watering, weeding, etc.
Following security protocols (key-holder, access to security cameras).
Restocking restroom supplies.
Maintaining proper supply levels, including restroom supplies, general supplies, cleaning solutions, cleaning tools, frog food, salt, etc. (card-holder).
Maintaining a healthy terrarium habitat for frogs, including preparing food and regular feeding.
Tracking vendor attendance infractions with the use of an app.
Communicating with third-party service providers as needed.
Identifying areas of improvement and implementing/improving systems.
Communicating concerns/issues in a prompt and respectful manner.
Conducting general maintenance such as changing lightbulbs, providing temporary solutions for any leaks, promptly cleaning spills, painting, etc.
Generally stepping in to assist in any way that is helpful to the team and operations as a whole.
Education & Experience: High school diploma or equivalent.
Physical Requirements:
Regular ladder use
Regular bending and lifting (cleaning, trash removal, general maintenance)
Operation of electrical lift
Prolonged periods of walking and standing
Shoveling snow
Stacking wooden event chairs, moving them on a dolly, unstacking them
Lifting ~100 wooden event chairs from floor to top of event tables at least 1x per week
Assisting with moving solid wooden event tables, and at times deconstructing them to store/setting them up again
Must be able to lift up to 80 pounds at times
Trash removal requires lifting at head-level to toss bags into compactor
